Handstitch Siddi Quilting Workshop In-Person
Explore the beauty of traditional Black and Indigenous quilt-making techniques with this hands-on workshop. This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the art of Siddi quilting, a traditional craft practiced by the Siddi women, a vibrant community of African-descended women in India who have upheld the African tradition even in migration to Western India. Using upcycled textiles, participants will create their own intricate quilted design while learning about the historical significance and regenerative practices that honor ancestral methods of sustainability. Presented by Mahdiyyah Muhammad, an upcycle fiber artist and workshop facilitator. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Registration required.
