Teen Manga Club In-Person
Harvest Moon Manga Celebration with Japanese Poetry
In Japan, the autumn equinox is celebrated. A related moon-viewing tradition, known as tsukimi, dates back over a thousand years, when nobles gathered under the night sky to compose poetry inspired by the moon’s beauty. We’ll read and discuss a Harvest Moon–inspired and equinox-related manga, then revive the spirit of these moonlit gatherings by creating our own poetry verses in haiku, senryū, tanka, kyōka, and renga. A discussion of the manga that you are currently reading will also be held.
This group will meet in the Young Adult area of the library.
Registration is required.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Lawrence Library.
Registrations open at 5:30 PM Tuesday, September 23, 2025
