Big STEAMers: Movie Magic Science In-Person

Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11!  Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids.  This week's topic: Movie Magic Science.  Young creators ages 6–11 will step behind the scenes to uncover the science that makes movie magic possible. Through hands‑on experiments and playful demonstrations, kids will explore how red‑and‑blue 3D glasses trick our eyes, how filmmakers create realistic falling “snow,” and how simple flip books turn still pictures into moving scenes. Participants will build mini‑effects of their own, and discover how science and imagination work together to bring stories to life on screen. It’s a class full of surprises, creativity, and “I can’t believe that’s how they do it!” moments.  Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.

Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts. If you have not arrived by the start of the program, we may give your spot to someone who is waiting. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Please cancel if you are unable to attend so that your spot may be given to another.  We appreciate your cooperation so we may offer a smoother flow of activities to the entire group.
