Gene Kelly—Singing and Dancing in the Rain Online
Gene Kelly is one of the most engaging and influential dancers in motion picture history. At a time when movie dance largely showcased elegant partners in motion, Kelly transformed both the nature of male dancing and the essential role of the camera in bringing dance to life on the big screen. Beginning in the 1940s, he created dozens of iconic numbers that helped define the American movie musical and continue to delight audiences of all ages. This presentation surveys Kelly’s remarkable achievements and explores his enduring impact on Hollywood dance. Presented by Brian Rose, Professor Emeritus at Fordham University.
