Big STEAMers: Mind‑Bending Magic: The Science of Optical Illusions In-Person
Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11! Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids. This week's topic: Mind‑Bending Magic: The Science of Optical Illusions!
Step into a world where your eyes play tricks on your brain! At the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch, kids ages 6–11 will explore the science behind optical illusions through hands‑on activities, surprising visuals, and creative challenges. Young scientists will discover how the brain interprets shapes, colors, and patterns—and why it sometimes gets things hilariously wrong. From shifting images to impossible objects, this program turns curiosity into “Wait… how is that even happening!” moments.. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.
Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts. If you have not arrived by the start of the program, we may give your spot to someone who is waiting. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Please cancel if you are unable to attend so that your spot may be given to another. We appreciate your cooperation so we may offer a smoother flow of activities to the entire group.
