Big STEAMers: Space Explorers: Adventures in Our Solar System In-Person
Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11! Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids. Get ready to experiment, explore, and make some surprising discoveries at the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch. This week's topic: Adventures in our Solar System!
Young astronauts ages 6–11 will blast off into a STEAM‑powered journey through space as they explore planets, comets, and asteroids in our amazing solar system. Through interactive experiments and creative projects, kids will investigate how asteroid impacts shape moons and planets—then recreate their own “crater strikes” using moon sand. To top it off, each child will design and build a glow‑in‑the‑dark bouncy ball modeled after a distant planet to take home. It’s a stellar mix of science, art, imagination, and hands‑on discovery. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.
Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts. If you have not arrived by the start of the program, we may give your spot to someone who is waiting. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Please cancel if you are unable to attend so that your spot may be given to another. We appreciate your cooperation so we may offer a smoother flow of activities to the entire group.
