Big STEAMers: Science of Toys! In-Person
Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11! Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids. Get ready to experiment, explore, and make some surprising discoveries at the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch. This week's topic: Science of Toys: Motion, Magic, & Newton's Laws!
Young makers ages 6–11 will discover the surprising science hiding inside their favorite toys as they explore how motion really works. Through hands-on experiments and playful challenges, kids will test out Newton's Three Laws using spinning tops, bouncing balls, zooming cars, and more. They'll investigate why toys start, stop, speed up, and change direction - then design their own mini toy to take home. It's STEAM learning powered by curiosity, creativity, and plenty of motion-filled fun. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.
Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts. If you have not arrived by the start of the program, we may give your spot to someone who is waiting. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Please cancel if you are unable to attend so that your spot may be given to another. We appreciate your cooperation so we may offer a smoother flow of activities to the entire group.
