Big STEAMers: Fizz, Foam, & Crystals In-Person
Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11! Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids. Get ready to experiment, explore, and make some surprising discoveries at the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch. This week's topic: Fizz, Foam, & Crystals: The Chemistry of Acids and Bases
Young chemists ages 6–11 will dive into the exciting world of acids and bases through hands-on experiments that bubble, fizz, and grow. Kids will explore the classic reaction between baking soda and vinegar to see chemistry in action, then learn how molecules interact as they create their own sparkling borax crystals to take home. It's a STEAM adventure filled with real science, creative discovery, and plenty of safe, messy fun. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.
Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts. If you have not arrived by the start of the program, we may give your spot to someone who is waiting. We may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Please cancel if you are unable to attend so that your spot may be given to another. We appreciate your cooperation so we may offer a smoother flow of activities to the entire group.
