Get Lit Book Club: Freakslaw by Jane Flett In-Person
Tensions flare in dreary, conservative Pitlaw after a curious travelling circus, the Freakslaw, comes to town in the summer of 1997. Stocked full of curiosities, queers, and other deviants, the neon lights of the circus draw the attention of the nearby teens, showing them dreams and possibilities they'd never dared to explore. But tensions rise between the outsider circus folk and the conservative adults of the town, tensions that stretch back decades into the past, reaching a fever pitch that will forever alter the small town. Library staff member Emily will lead the discussion. Suggested age range for this book club: 18-29.
