Big STEAMers: Static Electricity In-Person
Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11! Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids. Get ready to experiment, explore, and make some surprising discoveries at the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch. This week's topic: Static Electricity!
Static electricity is everywhere — in your clothes, in thunderstorms, even in the way a balloon sticks to your hair. In this hands-on Big STEAMers session, young scientists ages 6–11 will explore the zingy, clingy, surprising world of electric charges through playful experiments and creative challenges. Kids will test how everyday objects attract and repel, build mini “electric racers,” make dancing paper sprites, and discover why some materials hold a charge while others don’t. It’s science that crackles with curiosity and keeps everyone guessing what will stick next. Perfect for budding engineers, curious thinkers, and anyone who loves a little spark in their STEAM adventures.
Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.
