Big STEAMers: Alien Air Adventures In-Person

Join our exciting, 1-hour program for kids ages 6–11!  Big STEAMers is a program that focuses on the five areas of STEAM; science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, all geared toward elementary-aged kids.  Get ready to experiment, explore, and make some surprising discoveries at the Mercer County Library’s West Windsor Branch.  This week's topic: Physics!

Young inventors ages 6–11 will step into a War‑of‑the‑Worlds‑inspired science challenge where “alien probes” have landed… and it’s up to them to test how these mysterious crafts move through Earth’s atmosphere!  Kids will engineer balloon rockets to launch their alien explorers across the room, experimenting with thrust, force, and motion. Then they’ll design and test parachutes to help their alien landers drift safely back to Earth, discovering how air resistance, surface area, and shape affect a gentle touchdown.  It’s a thrilling mix of sci‑fi storytelling, physics, creativity, and hands‑on problem‑solving — perfect for curious minds ready to imagine, build, and blast off.

Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.

Registration is required prior to the event. Walk-ins are welcome as long as space and supplies are available. We recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before the program starts.
