Raising Boys: What's True, What's Hard, What Matters Most In-Person

The presentation will explore how boys and girls can differ in their developmental pace and learning needs, and how those differences can affect attention, relationships, emotional development, and academic engagement. It will also discuss practical approaches that can help boys thrive, including:

  • The importance of movement, physical activity, and hands-on learning
  • Using visual and spatial tools to support learning
  • The positive role of appropriate challenge and competition
  • The importance of strong relationships with parents, teachers, coaches, and other adult mentors
  • Helping boys develop self-control, compassion, and emotional intelligence
  • Managing risk-taking and the influence of technology, social media, and online content
  • Providing boys with meaningful challenges, purpose, service, and opportunities for personal responsibility

The goal of the presentation is to provide parents, educators, coaches, and community members with practical insight into how we can better understand and support boys as they develop.
