SUMMARY:Renoir: His Friends and Models
DESCRIPTION:\nPierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was a leading Impressionist
painter who revolutionized art through his vibrant\, light-filled
depictions of leisure and femininity. Even while suffering from severe
rheumatoid arthritis later in life\, Renoir continued to paint
prolifically. This talk explores the women who shaped his life and art\,
including early muse Lise Tréhot\, artist Suzanne Valadon\, and his wife
Aline Charigot. Discover how Renoir’s friends\, models\, and family
influenced the work of one of the most celebrated painters of the
Impressionist era. Presented by Jeanne Johnson\, docent at the Princeton
University Art Museum as well as Morven Museum and Gardens.
